  • Jeffrey S. Gurock had created this resource in order to inform the general public of the time when Harlem was mainly a Jewish population, thus allowing them to have more knowledge of Harlem before the Harlem Renaissance.
    • This source is valuable for the Summary and Response paper because it provides historical information of Harlem before it was mainly an African-American community. Additionally, it adds a counter argument for the the fact that African-Americans, much like any other ethnicity that was in Harlem, was pushed out after a time.
